Yes, it’s that time of the year again: Christmas is coming, and so is the end of the year. The University of Warwick men’s rowing team have just released their 2015 naked calendar and it could be just thing to win you the “best gift” award among your friends. But don’t forget to pick up a calendar for yourself so you can stare at these sexy rowers all year long.
And there’s no better time or reason to grab a Warwick Rowers calender because proceeds are ear marked to help combat gay discrimination. The UK rowing squad has been going starkers in their calendars since 2009 and they quickly realized that they had a huge gay following, so they thought: Why not direct some of the funds toward the LGBT community?
This year the Warwick Rowers established Sport Allies. “It’s a programme to reach out to young people challenged by bullying, homophobia or low self-esteem,” explains Warwick Rowers website. And the project has been a success with past calendars raising more than $300,000 and they’ve been shipped to 77 countries around the world.
And not only can you buy calendars to support a great cause, but there are t-shirts and hoodies, limited-edition prints, greeting cards, and other stuff. The Warwick Rowers pledges that 10 percent of purchases will go to Sport Allies to help them challenge homophobia and transphobia among young people. What a great cause!
